Character Information: Osomatsu-San Wiki!Personality: Todomatsu is the youngest of his very large family, and one could easily tell that by meeting him. He's very cutesy, and uses this to his advantage, being the spoiled, babied littlest brother as much as he can. Though he can try to act mature, it's often cancelled out by his further attempts falling flat on their ass because he almost always goes back to being spoiled - that's how he is. That's not to say, however, that he won't work for what he wants, he very well will, but it's likely to come out with a self-serving motivation first.
He has a very defensive persona - he's far more likely to be passive-aggressive towards someone than he is to be blunt like his brothers (as shown in S1 E2, 'The Melancholy of Osomatsu', where he outright coldly blows his brother off by saying 'I'm sorry, do I know you?' and walking past him), though he's still capable of brutal honesty if truly asked for it (best shown in S1 E14, 'Todomatsu's List', where he's wholly prepared to tell his brothers absolutely
everything about him until stopped). However, he's far better with tact, and he's far better at abusing exact wording to get away with a lot more than he should (with a smile on his face the entire time).
He's sly, and that tends to drive people away when he ends up self-sabotaging himself on accident and his lies all come crashing down around him (as he does in S1E07 'Todomatsu and the Five Demons', where his brothers abuse his string of lies to impress girls such as going to a prestigious university and simply never speaking of them to make his work life an absolute hell). Likewise, saying he's the
best with defending himself is a bit inaccurate: he has a very strong temper, and if he's truly upset, he'll viciously snap at the cause of it (usually his brothers, as he values his reputation enough with strangers to not do so, though there are exceptions - such as towards his former coworker and classmate Atsushi in Osomatsu-San The Movie -- he nearly attempts to fight him over some presumed slight).
Though he's the youngest and acts childlike, he still hates being put into the box of 'not being adult enough' for something. He wants to establish himself as a person, as an adult, as a
socialite first and foremost, but he simply doesn't know how at times. He's very envious towards those whom he sees as more successful than he is, and this may lead to outright loathing if they rub it in (or if he
feels like they're rubbing it in). He wants to see himself as better than the rest, and hates the reminder that he's nowhere near that yet.
Todomatsu will swear up and down that he wants no connection with his brothers, but in truth, he has a hidden but deep affection for all of them - enough so that if he succeeds at something that they fail at, more often than not he'll subconsciously sabotage himself to keep them all as a unit. (As seen in S1 E22 'The Star of Hope, Todomatsu' where ultimately he doesn't bring any of his brothers to the mixer he goes to since he can't take all of them, resulting in him ultimately sabotaging himself by retreating into his own shell.) He feels safe with them beside him. He'll cover that up as well, saying it's a
safeguard so they take any necessary falls for him, just in case anything
important happens, but this too is a lie. It's not a coincidence that when he's scared, his first instinct is to shout
'OSOMATSU-NIISAN! HELP!' with tears in his eyes.
Speaking of, he's easily frightened. He hates horror movies and even hates being in the dark for too long, considering both to be unnecessary sources of anxiety. (As seen in S103 'Tidbits Collection' where he even wakes up his older brother Choromatsu to take him to the bathroom in the middle of the night because he hates the dark so much.) He's very liable to burst into tears when he's scared, and tends to cower, though if necessary he will fight back. He can steel his nerves if he needs to, but the emphasis there is
if he needs to and he tends to stretch that definition to be
if there isn't someone to protect him. However, on the whole, Todomatsu isn't a bad person. If he makes a friend, at the end of the day, he'll likely support them (though question their decisions if they seem illogical, as he has done for his brothers more than a few times, which is shown in a number of episodes, though he's not above going along with their antics at times). If he cares about someone, it may not be obvious on the outset, but given time, he can truly
care for someone, and just loves being loved, and will try his best to provide that feeling in return to those who he feels deserve it. He's not perfect by any means, but he considers himself as close to it as he can be. (Though that's only
his opinion.)
